How we develop and test sewing patterns
The People’s Jeans product page separates automated drafting checks from physical sewing and external tester evidence. You can see what has actually been completed before buying.
Where we are now
Evidence is added pattern by pattern
The drafting engine and automated checks cover The People’s Jeans. Founder construction samples, finished garment photos, sew alongs, and external tester reports are being added as each jeans configuration is completed.
The People’s Jeans is available for purchase while physical samples and external tester evidence are being documented. The evidence record distinguishes automated checks, completed physical sewing, and published tester work.
The workflow
From measurements to a tested pattern
- Parametric draft. The engine calculates each pattern piece from the selected garment, options, and body measurements. It does not stretch a fixed size file.
- Automated checks. Code checks inputs, geometry, seam interfaces, edge allowances, grading cases, print layout, and projector output where supported.
- Founder construction sample. A real garment is cut and sewn. Construction order, markings, seam access, and physical assembly are checked.
- Fit review and changes. The finished garment is reviewed on a body or appropriate form. Any drafting or instruction change is recorded against a new draft version.
- External testing. Sew testers use their own measurements, fabric, equipment, and experience. Their reports are reviewed for repeated fit or construction issues.
- Published evidence. Approved feedback and photos appear only with permission. The product page is updated when new evidence is recorded.
Evidence guide
What each evidence label means
Drafting verified. The automated drafting, geometry, seam, output, and grading checks pass. Physical sewing is tracked separately.
First sample in progress. Automated checks pass and a physical construction sample is currently being made.
Physical sew test passed. A recorded physical construction sample has passed for the listed draft version.
External testing open. The pattern is actively collecting feedback from approved sew testers.
Tester validated. Approved external tester evidence is recorded for the listed draft version.
Updated after tester feedback. The listed draft version contains a recorded change made from approved tester feedback.
Not recorded yet. No repository evidence currently supports that physical testing claim. It is not treated as a pass.
Versioned proof
Testing belongs to a specific draft
The product page shows a draft version beside the evidence record. A meaningful geometry or construction change creates a new version so old evidence is not presented as proof of an unreviewed draft.
Development logs show recorded changes when a public note exists. Maker photos and tester feedback remain private until permission and approval are recorded.
What comes next
Samples, testers, and sew alongs
The next work is physical. Garments will be sewn, photographed, and used in full sew along videos. External testers will add more body shapes, fabrics, sewing machines, and skill levels. Repeated feedback will become drafting updates, instruction changes, and clearer pattern page notes.
Tester onboarding is paused. You can review the tester program status, share a finished make with permission, or review the measurement guide.
