How People's Patterns handles account data, body measurements, purchases, emails, analytics, cookies, and submitted photos.
1. What we collect
- Email address (when you create an account or join the notification list)
- Body measurements (when you enter them to generate a pattern; stored only if you save a profile)
- Purchase history (which patterns you have bought and when)
- Download history, including garment, file type, paper format, and time issued
- Payment information (processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number)
- Fit feedback (if you choose to submit it after sewing a pattern)
- Photos and captions (if you submit a make via the tester program or Share Your Make form)
- Historical affiliate account data, such as referral codes, recorded clicks, conversions, and account balances
- Marketing preferences (email opt-in status for welcome sequence and weekly digest)
- Email delivery records, such as template name, send status, recipient email, provider message ID, and unsubscribe status
- Source attribution, such as first landing page, referrer domain, UTM campaign fields, and whether a visit appears to come from search, social, affiliate, AI chat, or direct traffic
- Basic usage data, such as page views, clicks, product events, browser type, device type, and general region
- Advertising event data, if enabled, such as page visits, account signup, measurement start, download success, purchase event, purchase amount, and campaign parameters
2. What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name unless you provide it for a measurement profile
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not build advertising profiles from body measurements or fit feedback
- We do not share your measurements with anyone outside People's Patterns
3. How we use your data
- To generate your patterns
- To store your measurement profiles so you don't have to re-enter them
- To send you purchase confirmations and download links
- To help support diagnose whether tiled, copy shop, projector, or instructions files were issued
- To send fit feedback requests, usually once after a purchase
- To notify you of People’s Jeans updates and new sewing guides, only if you opted in
- To understand where customers came from and where users get stuck, so we can improve the product and support customers
- To measure our own advertising and retarget visitors who showed interest, if advertising tracking is enabled
- To improve pattern geometry over time using aggregated, anonymized fit data
4. Body measurement data
Your body measurements are the most sensitive data we handle. Here is exactly what happens with them:
- Stored in Supabase with row-level security. Your signed-in account can access only its own measurement profiles.
- Used to draft pattern pieces and generated PDFs for the garments you request.
- Used in the browser while you are drafting. Unfinished drafts remain only in session storage and are removed when that browser session ends.
- Saved profiles remain in Supabase and are stored only when you choose to save them to your account.
- When you request a PDF, AWS Lambda processes the measurements and options needed to generate that file.
- Not sent to Stripe, PostHog, Resend, Pinterest, Cloudflare Web Analytics, affiliate tracking, or Sentry diagnostics.
- Not sold, shared, or made available to a third-party data broker.
- Deletable from My Measurements in your account. Deleted profiles cannot be restored.
When you make a purchase, Stripe receives order and payment details. Your body measurements are not included in the Stripe checkout payload.
If you create a profile for a friend or customer, get that person’s permission before entering their measurements. Save only what you need for the sewing job, use a clear profile name that does not expose unnecessary personal details, and delete the profile when it is no longer needed.
5. Fit feedback and aggregate data
If you submit fit feedback, your individual response may be used in anonymized, aggregated form to improve pattern geometry for other users with similar measurements. We will never publish or share individual fit data tied to your identity.
6. Photos and user-submitted content
If you upload photos via the tester program, reviews, or Share Your Make form, images are stored in Supabase Storage. Photos are publicly visible only after approval. You can request removal of your photos at any time by contacting us. We do not intentionally use photo metadata such as EXIF location data.
7. Email communications
We send the following emails:
- Account welcome or setup email, required for account access
- Purchase confirmation and download link (required, transactional)
- Fit feedback request, usually one time per purchase
- Pattern check-ins asking how your jeans are going
- Welcome sequence (5 emails over 2 weeks after signup, if you opted in)
- Weekly digest with new jeans articles, fit notes, and construction guides, if you opted in
- Abandoned checkout, saved measurement, or unfinished pattern reminders when allowed by your email preferences
- People’s Jeans product updates, only if you opted in
We log email send status so we can debug delivery problems and show support history. If email open or click tracking is enabled through our email provider, we may receive engagement events such as opened or clicked. We use that data to understand whether emails are working, not to sell personal data.
We do not send marketing email without opt-in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and one click unsubscribe headers where supported. You can also visit /unsubscribe or email hello@peoplespatterns.com. Transactional emails, such as account security, purchase receipts, and download links, may still be sent when needed to provide the service.
8. Cookies and analytics
People's Patterns separates necessary service data, privacy safe anonymous product analytics, and optional advertising or session recording:
- Necessary service and diagnostics: Account sessions, checkout state, security controls, and Sentry error diagnostics may operate without an analytics choice. Sentry events are strictly scrubbed. They do not include request bodies, headers, query strings, measurements, customer content, or session replay.
- Privacy safe anonymous product analytics: A limited allowlist of anonymous product events may run before you store a choice. Complete measurement and option objects are excluded.
- Optional advertising and session recording: Pinterest advertising and PostHog session replay require your explicit opt in. They remain off unless you choose this tier. When replay is enabled, all text and inputs are masked, URL bearing elements are blocked, and query strings and private path identifiers are removed.
The service also uses a small number of storage and analytics tools:
- Account and app storage: Supabase login sessions keep you signed in. Local storage remembers limited preferences. Unfinished measurement drafts remain in session storage only. Measurement bearing pending checkout records expire after 24 hours.
- Source attribution storage: Local storage may keep the first page you visited, your last page, referrer domain, and campaign parameters so we can connect that source to your account after signup.
- Affiliate tracking: The public affiliate program is paused. The current site clears the first-party
pp_refcookie and does not record new referral clicks. Historical affiliate account and dashboard records remain available to the people they belong to. - PostHog: Privacy safe anonymous product events may run with memory persistence before a stored choice. PostHog session replay requires explicit opt in.
- Pinterest tag: Pinterest advertising requires explicit opt in. If enabled, Pinterest may receive page visits and limited conversion events so we can measure Pinterest ads and retarget visitors. We do not send body measurements, profile names, email addresses, or private pattern files to Pinterest.
- Sentry: Necessary error diagnostics use one strict sanitizer in the browser, Cloudflare, and AWS Lambda. Session replay is disabled. Only the error type, code stack, safe operational categories, status, release, and optional opaque account identifier may remain.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: Page analytics may collect basic visit information without body measurements or payment details.
We do not send body measurements, saved profile names, card numbers, or private pattern files to analytics tools.
9. Third-party services
- Supabase: stores your account data and measurement profiles (supabase.com)
- Stripe: processes payments. We never see your card number. Your body measurements are never sent to Stripe. Only your garment choice and order total. (stripe.com)
- PostHog: privacy safe product analytics and feature flags. Session replay requires explicit opt in. It does not receive body measurements. (posthog.com)
- Pinterest: advertising measurement and retargeting after explicit opt in. It does not receive body measurements. (pinterest.com)
- Sentry: necessary scrubbed error diagnostics without session replay. It does not receive request bodies, measurement data, or customer content through our event policy. (sentry.io)
- Resend: sends transactional and opted-in marketing emails. Receives your email address and the email content needed to send the message. If tracking is enabled, Resend may process delivery, open, and click events. (resend.com)
- Cloudflare Pages: hosts the frontend application (cloudflare.com)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS Lambda): generates PDF pattern files (aws.amazon.com)
Each service has its own privacy policy. Body measurements are limited to the browser, Supabase storage when you save a profile, and AWS Lambda when you request a generated file, as described above. Payment processors, analytics tools, and email services do not receive body measurements.
10. Data retention
- Account data: retained until you delete your account
- Saved measurement profiles in Supabase: retained until you delete them
- Unfinished measurement drafts: kept only for the current browser session
- Measurement bearing pending checkout records: expire after 24 hours
- Purchase and download history: retained so you can re-download purchases, so support can diagnose file access, and so we can keep tax and payment records
- Email list (notification only, no account): retained until you unsubscribe
- Email delivery logs and source attribution: retained for support, deliverability, analytics, and fraud prevention purposes unless deletion is required and no legal exception applies
- Analytics data: retained according to the analytics provider settings
- Submitted photos: retained until you request removal or we remove them
11. Your deletion and access choices
You can at any time:
- Delete saved measurement profiles from Account, then My Measurements.
- Start full account deletion from Account, then Account Settings, then Delete Account. The button gives the support email path needed for final deletion.
- Request access to your data by emailing hello@peoplespatterns.com.
- Request deletion by emailing hello@peoplespatterns.com with the subject "Delete my account".
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails through the link in the email, at /unsubscribe, or by emailing support.
- Reopen Privacy choices at any time with the Review Privacy choices control on this page or the persistent Privacy choices control.
Some records may be kept when required for security, tax, payment, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. If we keep a record for one of those reasons, we limit it to what is needed.
12. California residents
We do not sell personal information. If you explicitly opt in to advertising tracking, we may share limited website event data with Pinterest for our own ad measurement and retargeting. We do not share body measurements, fit feedback, profile names, email addresses, or private pattern files for advertising. You can request to know, correct, delete, or opt out by contacting us.
13. European and UK users
Our legal bases include contract performance, consent for marketing email, legitimate interests for service improvement and security, and legal obligations for payment and tax records. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection by contacting us.
