The fit problem

The Problem with Standard Sizes

Commercial sewing patterns are built on a small set of body proportions. If your measurements cross sizes, you may need several alterations before sewing. The People’s Jeans starts from your measurements and choices, which can reduce that adjustment work. Measurement accuracy, fabric, and construction still affect fit, so a test garment is recommended.

How It Works

  1. Measure. Enter waist, hip, rise, thigh, inseam, and the optional lower body measurements that apply to your jeans.
  2. Generate. Our parametric drafting engine calculates the pieces, seams, and curves from your measurements and choices. The pattern is drawn fresh for your body.
  3. Sew. Download a tiled PDF that is ready to print, assemble the pages, and cut. Everything is labeled and includes construction instructions.

The story

Why I Built This

I sewed a garment from an AI generated pattern. The fit was off and the instructions were terrible. So I tried drafting my own pattern from scratch. Pattern drafting is a mountain of math and it takes time. I wanted a more useful starting draft from real measurements, made for good fabric and home sewing.

So I built the engine behind People's Patterns. It uses the same parametric drafting formulas that professional pattern makers rely on, but you get your pattern in seconds and at a price that makes sense for home sewists. The drafting engine is written from scratch using parametric geometry. No AI generation, no digital tracing of existing patterns.

I am sewing construction samples and recording changes as jeans are completed. External tester onboarding is paused until assignment access and the complete tester journey are verified.
