What Made-to-Measure Means
A made to measure sewing pattern is drafted from individual body measurements. Instead of selecting a standard size, you enter jeans measurements such as waist, hip, rise, thigh, knee, and inseam. The engine uses those inputs with your ease and style choices to calculate the pattern pieces.
People's Patterns uses parametric drafting formulas to generate the pattern. You receive a tiled PDF, large format and projector output, seam allowances, materials guidance, and construction instructions.
How It Works
- Pick a starting style. Choose classic, slim, Heritage Bootcut, flare, wide, baggy, workwear, western, or streetwear.
- Enter your measurements. Enter the required jeans measurements and optional inputs that refine the draft.
- Download your PDF. Your custom pattern is generated in seconds. Print it at home on standard paper, tape the pages together, and cut.
Why Made to Measure Can Start Closer
Standard sewing patterns are graded from a single base size. If your proportions differ from the base model, you end up making alterations before you even cut fabric. A full bust adjustment here, a rise change there, grading between sizes for your waist and hips.
With made to measure, the draft begins from your measurements instead of a size choice. This can reduce common size blending and proportion changes. It does not remove the need for accurate measuring, suitable fabric, careful construction, or a test garment.
